COL BKB: Vanderbilt 83, Florida 70

NASHVILLE, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Derrick Byars and Shan Foster both scored 24 points Saturday afternoon to lead Vanderbilt to an 83-70 upset of top-ranked Florida.

Vandy steadily expanded a 35-27 halftime advantage, and led by 82-66 with just 1:36 remaining.

Ross Neltner had 15 points and four rebounds; Byars also had two rebounds, and eight assists; while Foster added four rebounds, and two assists for the Commodores (18-8, 8-4 SEC), who broke the Gators' 17-game winning streak.

Florida had won the previous seven games between the schools.

Joakim Noah led Florida with 15 points and four rebounds.

Al Horford had 13 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists; and Corey Brewer added 13 points and three rebounds for the Gators (24-3, 11-1), who owned the nation's longest winning streak before the setback.

There was a heated exchange between Noah and Vanderbilt Coach Kevin Stallings during a dead-ball period in the second half.
