Nets' Kidd out with back problem

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Feb. 13 (UPI) -- New Jersey Nets guard Jason Kidd will miss at least two games because of a strained lower back, the NBA team said Tuesday.

The Nets have games Tuesday at home against the San Antonio Spurs and Wednesday at Toronto, which Kidd will miss, before the All-Star break. Their first game after the break is Feb. 21 at home.

New Jersey did not say whether Kidd would play in Sunday's NBA All-Star game.

Kidd has not missed a game because of illness or injury since Dec. 4, 2004. He is averaging 14.3 points, 8.7 assists and 8 rebounds a game this game.

New Jersey already had injury problems. Center Nenad Krstic is out for the season with a knee injury and forward Richard Jefferson is expected to miss three weeks with an ankle problem.
