Baghdatis, Ljubicic win at Zagreb

ZAGREB, Croatia, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Marcos Baghdatis and defending champion Ivan Ljubicic were semifinal winners Saturday at the Zagreb Indoors tennis tournament in Croatia.

Ljubicic, the top seed and a native of Croatia, rallied to down No. 4 Mikhail Youzhny of Russia, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5. Baghdatis, from Cyprus, rolled past unseeded Alexander Peya of Austria, 6-4, 6-3.

In Friday's quarterfinals, Baghdatis barely survived against No. 8 Arnaud Clement of France, while Ljubicic also went to three sets before beating unseeded Thomas Johansson.

Ljubicic seeks his eighth career title. Baghdatis goes after his second.

"I am satisfied because I have played some really good tennis this week," Baghdatis said. "(Saturday) I was really focused on every point."

Sunday's winner will claim a first prize check of $44,100, with the runner-up earning $26,000.
