NHL: Ottawa 3, Boston 1

OTTAWA, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Patrick Eaves, Chris Neil and Antoine Vermette scored third-period goals Saturday afternoon as the Ottawa Senators topped the Boston Bruins, 3-1.

The game was scoreless until the third, when Eaves opened the scoring for Ottawa and Glen Murray scored the only Boston goal.

Neil broke the tie with what proved to be the game-winner at 7:48 of third.

Vermette scored on an empty net, and Ray Emery made 29 saves on 30 shots for the Senators, who have won five of their last six games.

Tim Thomas made 33 saves on 35 shots for the Bruins, who have dropped three of their last four games.

There were no power-play goals in nine combined chances.
