NHL: Ottawa 5, Washington 2

OTTAWA, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- A pair of goals by Mike Comrie paced the streaking Ottawa Senators Tuesday night as they dispatched the Washington Capitals 5-2.

It was another productive night for the Senators' offense, which has scored at least five goals per game in what has become a five-game winning streak.

Daniel Alfredsson, Peter Schaefer and Andrej Maszaros also scored for the Senators, who are 10-1-1 in their last 12 games.

Chris Clark and Steve Eminger scored for the Capitals, who have lost three in a row.

Ray Emery had 27 saves for the Senators while Brent Johnson had 29 saves.

Maszaros opened the scoring with a little more than 3 minutes to play in the first period and quickly added another goal by Comrie to make it 2-0.

Clark's short-handed goal 24 seconds later cut the margin to 2-1. In the second period Comrie and Alfredsson scored less than a minute apart to extend the lead to 4-1.
