Chakvetadze wins third WTA title

HOBART, Australia, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Anna Chakvetadze posted a straight-set victory over Vasilisa Bardina in an all-Russian final of the Moorilla Hobart tennis tournament in Australia.

Chakvetadze, rated No. 13 in the world, had little trouble in the 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) victory. She faltered only slightly in the second set but ripped through the tiebreaker to claim her third WTA title. She is 3-0 in tournament championship matches.

Bardina, ranked 70th and like Chakvetadze a 19-year-old Russian, had never advanced beyond a tournament quarterfinal before the Hobart tournament.
