NHL: Tampa Bay 3, Montreal 1

TAMPA, Fla., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Brad Richards, Vaclav Prospal and Filip Kuba scored goals in three separate periods Saturday night as the Tampa Bay Lightning beat Montreal Saturday, 3-1.

Richards also had an assist, Dan Boyle had two assists, and Johan Holmqvist gave up one goal on just 13 shots for the Lightning, who broke a two-game skid and have won four of their last six games.

Alexander Perezhogin scored and Cristobal Huet was beaten three times on 41 shots for the Canadiens, who have dropped two in a row and three of their last four games.

On the power play, Tampa Bay went 2-for-5, and Montreal was 0-for-2.
