NHL: Detroit 4, Dallas 3

DALLAS, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Nicklas Lidstrom matched Mike Modano with two goals Friday night as Detroit beat the Dallas Stars, 4-3.

Lidstrom's power play tally at 8:32 of the third period turned out to be the goal that staved off a late Dallas rally.

Jiri Hudler and Pavel Datsyuk each scored once, Tomas Holmstrom had two assists and goaltender Dominik Hasek made 17 saves on 20 shots for the Red Wings (5-4-1).

Detroit, which has won two in a row following a three-game losing streak, is tied with Nashville for first place in the Central Division with 11 points.

After Modano, Jussi Jokinen scored the other goal. Sergei Zubov had two assists and goalie Marty Turco gave up four goals on 33 shots for the Stars (8-2-0), who had a three-game winning streak snapped.

On the power play, the Stars were 3-for-7 and the Red Wings went 1-for-4.
