
MONTREAL, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Sheldon Souray had two goals and two assists Saturday night as Montreal beat the Colorado Avalanche, 8-5.
Alexei Kovalev had one goal and one assist, Andrei Markov and Saku Koivu had three assists each and goalie David Aebischer gave up five goals on 38 shots in the high-scoring contest for the Canadiens (4-1-2), whose 10 points are good enough for third place in the Northeast Division.
Andrew Brunette scored twice, three other players each had one goal, Patrice Brisebois and Marek Svatos both had two assists and goaltender Jose Theodore was beaten eight times on 36 shots for the Avalanche (3-3-2), who have eight points to tie for second place with Edmonton in the Northwest Division.
On the power play, Montreal was 4-for-8 while Colorado went 1-for-7.
