Kwame Brown to miss 3-4 weeks

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Forward Kwame Brown of the Los Angeles Lakers will miss 3-4 weeks after injuring the rotator cuff in his right shoulder.

The team also reported that the 6-foot-11 inch Brown has a case of bursitis in the shoulder.

It is the latest piece of bad medical news for the Lakers, who also have Kobe Bryant (knee), Chris Mihm (knee), Brian Cook (ankle), and Vladimir Radmanovic (strained ligament in his shooting hand) slowed by injuries.

"Let's just hope that everybody's getting hurt early so they won't get hurt late," Brown told the Los Angeles Daily News on Friday.

Brown was chosen by Washington as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft and played his first three seasons with the Wizards before being shipped to the Lakers.

He has career averages of 7.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.

The Lakers open their season Oct. 31 against Phoenix.
