NORMAN, Okla., Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Injured Oklahoma University running back Adrian Peterson Wednesday said he hopes to be recovered if the Sooners go to a bowl game this season.
The 6-foot-2 inch, 218-pound junior broke his left collarbone during last Saturday's 34-9 rout of Iowa State.
While scoring on a 53-yard run in the fourth quarter, he suffered the injury on a dive into the end zone.
"It's crazy taking the pounding that I take and then to fall like that," he told reporters on Wednesday. "Unfortunately, I broke my collarbone. It's crazy when I sit there and replay it back."
The team has said that he will miss the rest of the season.
"I am praying each night for a speedy recovery," Peterson said when asked about the possibility of coming back for a bowl game.
He had 983 yards and 10 touchdowns when he was injured.
In his career, Peterson had 4,218 yards and 39 touchdowns.
