COL FB: Notre Dame 31, Stanford 10

SOUTH BEND, Ind., Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Brady Quinn passed for 230 yards and three touchdowns Saturday afternoon as 12th-ranked Notre Dame blasted Stanford, 31-10.

He threw two scoring passes to help the Fighting Irish gain a 14-3 halftime lead.

Notre Dame never trailed and improved to 5-1 for the season.

Darius Walker ran for one touchdown on 25 carries for 154 yards; Jeff Samardzija; Rhema McKnight; and John Carlson all caught touchdown passes; McKnight made five receptions for 62 yards; while Samardzija had seven catches for 50 yards for the Fighting Irish.

Trent Edwards, who was sacked five times, was 7-of-13 for only 70 yards; fullback Anthony Kimble threw a 57-yard touchdown pass to Kelton Lynn in the fourth quarter; and back-up quarterback T.C. Ostrander threw an interception for the still winless Cardinal (0-6, 0-3 Pac-10).

Stanford has lost its last five games against the Irish.
