MLS: Chivas USA 1, FC Dallas 0

FRISCO, Texas, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Chivas USA moved a step closer to its first-ever playoff berth Wednesday night by beating FC Dallas, 1-0, in a Major League Soccer contest at Frisco, Texas.

Juan Pablo Garcia scored his eighth goal of the year in the game's 13th minute on an assist by Jonathan Bornstein; and netkeeper Brad Guzan made three saves for Chivas (9-7-11), which earned three points for the victory and has 38 points overall, good for third place in the Western Conference.

Dario Sala was credited with one save; and FC Dallas (14-9-4), which is in first place in the West with 46 points, and took three shots on goal.
