NORMAN, Okla., Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Adrian Peterson rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown Saturday to lead 5th-ranked Oklahoma to a 24-17 victory over University of Alabama Birmingham.
Peterson also caught a 69-yard touchdown pass while Paul Thompson was 14-of-24 for 227 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions for Oklahoma (1-0). Joe Jon Finley caught four passes for 79 yards and a touchdown in the victory.
Corey White scored two touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving, for UAB. White finished with 23 yards on the ground and caught four passes for 53 yards.
Sam Hunt completed 9-of-15 passes for 149 yards with a touchdown in the loss for the Blazers (0-1).
UAB took its only lead of the game at 17-14 after Swayze Waters hit a 32-yard field goal with 4:16 remaining in the third quarter.
