NEW YORK, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Chicago White Sox outfielder Jermaine Dye was named Monday as the American League's player of the week.
Dye batted .393 with five homers, 10 runs batted in and a .964 slugging percentage last week. In a four-game set with the AL Central rival Detroit Tigers, he was 7-for-16 with four homers and seven RBI.

This marked Dye's second weekly award this year. He also got the honor on July 10.
