ARLINGTON, Texas, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Vicente Padilla gave up four hits in eight scoreless innings Sunday night as the Texas Rangers beat Oakland, 3-0.
Matt Stairs hit a two-run homer; Michael Young had two hits, including an RBI single; and Gary Matthews Jr. had a run and three hits for the Rangers (67-65), who have split their last four games.

Padilla (13-8) walked four batters and struck out eight.
Akinori Otsuka recorded his 28th save.
Milton Bradley had two of the four hits for the Athletics (74-56), who had a three-game winning streak snapped.
Losing pitcher Dan Haren (12-10) surrendered three runs and seven hits in seven innings with two walks and 12 strikeouts.
