MLB: Philadelphia 4, N.Y. Mets 3

NEW YORK, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Ryan Howard blasted a two-run homer in the top of the third inning Friday night to help Philadelphia beat the New York Mets, 4-3.

Howard's home run was his 45th of the season.

Chase Utley had two hits, including an RBI single, and Shane Victorino had a run and two hits for the Phillies (65-63), who have won seven times in their last 10 games.

Winner Randy Wolf (3-0) surrendered three runs and five hits in five innings with four walks and four strikeouts.

Ryan Madson, normally a starter, earned his second save.

Carlos Beltran hit an RBI double and a two-run homer, and Paul Lo Duca had a run and two hits for the Mets (78-49), who had a seven-game winning streak snapped.

The loser was Brian Bannister (2-1).
