MLB: Chi. White Sox 10, Detroit 0

DETROIT, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Jermaine Dye hit two home runs and scored four runs Thursday, pacing the Chicago White Sox to a 10-0 rout of the Detroit Tigers.

The decision pulled the White Sox within 5 1/2 games of the AL Central-leading Tigers. Chicago has beaten Detroit 11 times in 16 games this season.

Jon Garland (15-4) pitched a complete-game six-hitter for the White Sox. He walked one and struck out two.

Dye got the White Sox going with a solo home run in the first inning and added a two-run shot in the fifth that put Chicago ahead 7-0. He has 99 RBI and a career-best 37 home runs on the season.

Jose Uribe smacked a three-run homer in the fourth. After Dye's second home run, the White Sox added three runs in the seventh inning to complete the romp.

All of the Chicago scoring came against Detroit starter Nate Robertson (11-10), who allowed nine hits and 10 earned runs.
