DETROIT, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- The Chicago White Sox have listed first baseman and designated hitter Jim Thome as day-to-day with a left hamstring injury.
Thome was hurt Wednesday night while running out an RBI double in the second inning at Detroit and was removed from the contest.
"I really don't think it's a cramp, a cramp usually goes away," Thome said on the team's Web site. "I would say there's probably a little bit of sprain in there without knowing. We'll see what's going to happen. I've never had a hamstring injury (but) I hit first base and when I turned, that's when it got me."
Thome did not play in Thursday's game.
In 405 at-bats this season, he is batting .294 with 36 home runs and 91 RBI.
Thome was obtained in an off-season trade with Philadelphia.
