MLB: Boston 9, Baltimore 2

BOSTON, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Mark Loretta, Manny Ramirez and Alex Gonzalez each drove in two runs Friday night as Boston routed Baltimore, 9-2 to break a five-game losing streak.

Ramirez had two hits to run his career-high hitting streak to 26 straight games; Loretta had a run and three hits; and former Oriole Javy Lopez, who was traded to Boston last week, had two runs, two hits and one RBI for the Red Sox (66-48), who won for only the second time in their last eight games.

Winner David Wells (1-2) gave up one run and nine hits over seven innings with one walk and four strikeouts.

Corey Patterson hit a solo homer, Brian Roberts had three hits, and Kevin Millar had a run and two hits for the Orioles (51-65), who have lost four of their last five games.

The losing pitcher was Adam Loewen (2-4), who yielded six runs and six hits in 2 1/3 innings.
