ST. LOUIS, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Cole Hamels pitched seven innings of two-hit ball and Chase Utley ran his hitting streak to 35 games Thursday night as the Phillies beat St. Louis, 8-1.

Hamels (4-5) yielded just one run with two walks and 12 strikeouts. Utley finished with three hits, and is tied with Luis Castillo for the longest consecutive-games hitting streak by a second baseman.

Chris Coste had four hits and two RBI, while Aaron Rowand had three hits, including a homer, as the Phillies won for the sixth time in their last seven games.

Scott Rolen drove in the Cardinals' only run with a sacrifice fly.

St. Louis starter Jason Marquis (12-9) gave up four runs on nine hits through six innings, as the Cards dropped their seventh straight.
