MLB: Florida 4, N.Y. Mets 1

MIAMI, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Miguel Cabrera had two hits and three RBI Thursday night as Florida beat the New York Mets, 4-1.

His three-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning was the game-winning hit.

Mike Jacobs had two runs, one hit and one RBI; and Hanley Ramirez scored once for the Marlins (51-57), who have won three of their last four games.

Winner Dontrelle Willis (7-8) scattered a run and seven hits over eight innings with three walks and five strikeouts. Joe Borowski recorded his 22nd save.

An RBI groundout by Jose Reyes in the seventh inning produced the only New York run, Jose Valentin had three hits, and David Wright had two hits for the Mets (64-43), who have split their last 10 games.

The losing pitcher was Aaron Heilman (1-4), who allowed three runs and two hits in one inning of relief.

Mets starter Pedro Martinez surrendered a run and four hits in six innings.
