BOSTON, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- A two-run double by Mark Loretta in the bottom of the ninth inning Wednesday night lifted the Boston Red Sox past Cleveland, 6-5.
Loretta finished with two hits and three RBI.
Manny Ramirez and Wily Mo Pena hit solo home runs; Kevin Youkilis had one run and two hits; and Alex Gonzalez had a hit and scored twice for the Red Sox (64-42), who have split their last four games.
Ramirez extended his hitting streak to 18 games.
The winning pitcher was closer Jonathan Papelbon (3-1).
Travis Hafner hit a sacrifice fly and a two-run homer; Victor Martinez added a solo homer; Jhonny Peralta hit an RBI single; and Hafner, Martinez and Kelly Shoppach each had two hits for the Indians (46-60), who have lost four of their last five games.
The loser was Fausto Carmona, who sank to 1-6.
