WASHINGTON, July 15 (UPI) -- Eddie Jordan Saturday signed a three-year contract extension worth about $12 million to remain as head coach of the NBA's Washington Wizards.

The Wizards finished the 2005-06 regular season 42-40 before losing to Cleveland in the first-round of the playoffs.

The team won 25 games in Jordan's first season in Washington, but improved to 45-37 in the 2004-05 season and beat the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the playoffs.

The Washington Post said the contract extension was for around $12 million and runs through the 2009-10 season.

"Eddie has done a very good job in leading our team to the playoffs over the past two seasons," said Washington's president of basketball operations, Ernie Grunfeld.

Jordan has a career NBA record of 145-198, including his brief stint as head coach of the Sacramento Kings.
