Top-seeded Murray upset at Newport

NEWPORT, R.I., July 15 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Brit Andy Murray was upset by Justin Gimelstob Saturday in straight sets during semifinal action in the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships.

Gimelstob, seeded eighth, cruised to a 6-1 victory in the first set before edging Murray 7-6 (7-4) in the second.

The American moves onto the final to face unseeded Mark Philippoussis, who beat Jurgen Melzer 6-7 (2-7), 6-2, 6-0 in the other semifinal match Saturday.

The final will be played at 2 p.m. EST on Sunday, with the winner taking home $52,000.

Philippoussis, who has won two of three lifetime meetings against Gimelstob, is trying for his 11th career title, while Gimelstob has yet to win a singles championship on the ATP Tour.
