SILVERSTONE, England, June 11 (UPI) -- Fernando Alonso, driving a Renault, won Sunday's Formula One British Grand Prix at Silverstone, England, 13.951 seconds ahead of Michael Schumacher (Ferrari).

"Today, we saw that we had more fuel than the others (Saturday) in qualifying so this also helped in terms of strategy and things like that," Alonso said at a post-race news conference. "The tires performed really well all through the race so there weren't many opportunities for opponents to beat us and this is good news for the rest of the season."

Kimi Raikkonen (McLaren), Giancarlo Fisichella (Renault), and Felipe Massa (Ferrari) finished third, fourth, and fifth, respectively.

Juan Pablo Montoya (McLaren), Nick Heidfeld (BMW Sauber), Jacques Villeneuve (BMW Sauber), Nico Rosberg (Williams), and Rubens Barrichello (Honda) rounded out the top 10.

In the F1 points race, Alonso leads Schumacher, 74-51.
