"I did really good," said the 41-year-old Redman, who has not won an event since 2000. "I finally started making some putts. I hit it really good. The last two months my putting has just really hurt me, so I just all around played good."

"There's a ton of bugs (in my game)," said defending champion Sorenstam, the No. 1 women's golfer in the world. "It's quite tough on some of the holes. If you don't get the breeze they can be quite annoying."

Three players -- Laura Diaz, Amy Hung and Seon-Hwa Lee -- are 6-under 65.

Seven players, including Catriona Matthew and 2005 U.S. Women's Amateur champion Morgan Pressel, are one-shot further back at 5-under 66.
