SALT LAKE CITY, May 28 (UPI) -- Real Salt Lake and the Colorado Rapids Saturday played to a 2-2 draw in a tense Major League Soccer contest in Salt Lake City.
Jovan Kirovski and Daniel Wasson scored the goals for the Rapids (3-3-1), who are third in the Western Conference behind FC Dallas and Houston with 10 points.
Real (2-5-1), which is fourth in th West, with only 7 points, got its goals from Jeff Cunningham and Jason Kreis, who scored in the 88th minute to force the draw.
The game was played in a steady downpour and Real scored the equalizing goal while it was one player short because of a penalty.
The contest was the first of four meetings between the teams this season. The winner of the series will claim this year's Rocky Mountain Cup.
Next Saturday, Real is at Chicago while the Rapids travel to Chivas USA.
