MLB: Phildelphia 6, Atlanta 3

PHILADELPHIA, May 5 (UPI) -- Ryan Howard hit a home run and drove in three Thursday night as Philadelphia beat Atlanta, 6-3, for its fifth straight victory.

Jimmy Rollins, who also homered, had two hits, scored twice and knocked in one; Chase Utley added two hits and Bobby Abreu scored twice for the Phillies, who improved to 14-14.

Winner Cory Lidle (3-3) yielded five hits and three runs in six innings with three walks and five strikeout. Arthur Rhodes picked up his first save of the season.

Andruw Jones knocked in two runs; and Edgar Renteria extended his hitting streak to 20 straight games for the Braves (12-16).

Atlanta has dropped two in a row following a three-game winning streak.

Losing pitcher John Thomson (0-2) gave up five runs and eight hits in six innings, walking one and striking out one.
