MLB: Detroit 6, Minnesota 0

DETROIT, April 30 (UPI) -- Marcus Thames went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI Sunday as Detroit beat the Minnesota Twins, 6-0.

Vance Wilson had three hits, three RBI and on run scored; Craig Monroe had two hits and scored once; and Placido Polanco had one hit and one RBI for the Tigers (16-9), who swept the Twins for the first time since April 2002.

Monroe ran his hitting streak to five games.

Winner Kenny Rogers gave up just two hits over eight innings with one walk and four strikeouts. Todd Jones mopped up in the ninth.

Justin Morneau and Torii Hunter had the lone hits for Minnesota, which has dropped eight of its last 10 games.

Loser Kyle Lohse (1-2) yielded six earned runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings with two walks and one strikeout.

Detroit out-scored the Twins, 33-1, in the series.
