"I'm glad I knocked it to just four inches," said Fernandez-Castano. "Otherwise I would have missed it, I was so nervous."

It was a fitting victory for Fernandez-Castano, who was the only player in the field with four rounds under par. He shot a closing 2-under 70 on Sunday to bag his second career European Tour title.

He won $247,811.

Stenson, who was the leader after each of the first three rounds, ended with 71 on Sunday and had a damaging triple-bogey at No. 9.

Colin Montgomerie (68) and Jose-Filipe Lima (68) shared third place at 6-under 282. Paul Casey (71) and Simon Dyson (68) and Mahal Pearce (71) tied for fifth at 5-under 283.
