AMELIA ISLAND, Fla., April 10 (UPI) -- Russia's Nadia Petrova Sunday beat Francesca Schiavone of Italy to win the Bausch & Lomb Championships at Amelia Island, Fla.
The scores in the title match were 6-4, 6-4.
Petrova made her win look fairly easy, taking the first set in 46 minutes with three service aces, 13 first-serve points and two service breaks. She took the second set by capitalizing on 13 un-forced errors by Schianone and two double-faults.
"It feels really good to finish off the week with the title," Petrova said. "I felt like I could have done much more. I think we both didn't really play our best, but we both wanted to win and were trying as much as we could out there. I'm quite happy everything finished in two sets."
Petrova became the sixth Russian to go over the $4 million mark in career earnings by winning $95,500.
