MLB: N.Y. Mets 9, Florida 3

NEW YORK, April 8 (UPI) -- Jose Reyes had three hits and three RBI Friday night to lead the New York Mets over the Florida Marlins, 9-3.

Reyes finished a triple shy of the cycle and hit his first home run of the season.

David Wright also homered and drove in three runs; Carlos Delgado had two hits, scored a run and drove in one; and winner Steve Trachsel (1-0) allowed just one run on three hits in six innings with one walk and six strikeouts.

Former Met Mike Jacobs drove in all three Florida runs with two hits, including his second homer of the season; and losing pitcher Jason Vargas (0-1) gave up five runs and eight hits in five-plus innings with three walks and four strikeouts.

Florida's leadoff hitter, Hanley Ramirez, has reached base safely in the first inning of all four games this season.
