Pacers retire Reggie Miller's jersey

INDIANAPOLIS, March 30 (UPI) -- The Indiana Pacers retired Reggie Miller's No. 31 jersey during halftime of the Pacers' game against Phoenix Thursday night.

Miller, who retired as an active player after the 2004-05 season, is the NBA's all-time leader in 3-pointers made and attempted and is 12th on the league's all-time scoring list.

The 6-foot-7 inch Miller scored more than 25,000 career points and spent his entire 18-year career with the Pacers, who drafted him in the first round (11th pick overall) in 1987 out of UCLA.

"Tonight, we reward that loyalty with the ultimate honor a franchise can bestow," said Indiana CEO and President Donnie Walsh. "No Pacers player will ever wear No. 31 again."

Miller was a five-time all-star and played in 144 playoff games, averaging 18.2 points per game and shooting 39.5 percent from beyond the arc.
