NHL: Vancouver 4, Edmonton 3 (SO)

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, March 24 (UPI) -- Todd Bertuzzi added a game-deciding shootout goal to a goal and an assist in regulation in keying the Vancouver Canucks 4-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.

Vancouver pulled into a tie with Anaheim for the sixth Western Conference playoff spot with 82 points, but only 6 points separate 10th place San Jose and fifth-place Colorado. Edmonton, with 80 points after losing its third consecutive game, is in eighth.

Markus Naslund and Henrik Sedin each scored a goal and Alexander Auld stopped 26 shots in the win for the Canucks, who have won three of their last four games.

Edmonton's Raffi Torres had two goals and Fernando Pisani the third Oilers' goal. Dwayne Roloson made 16 saves but failed to stop any Vancouver shots in the shootout.

The Oilers missed their first try in the shootout and the teams traded goals until it came down to Bertuzzi, who banked a backhand shot off the right post for the game-winner.
