Top seeds fall at Bangalore Tourney

BANGALORE, India, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- The top two seeds were losers Wednesday at the Bangalore Tennis Open at Bangalore, India.

Top-seeded Sania Mirza was beaten in a second-round match by Camille Pin, 1-6, 7-5, 6-2, after blowing a 6-1, 5-3 lead.

No. 2 Shahar Peer was ousted by Elena Camerin, 6-4, 6-2. Peer was fresh off her first-ever WTA Tour title on Sunday when she beat Jelena Kostanic in the final at the Pattaya Women's Open at Pattaya City, Thailand.

In a first-round match, the sixth-seeded Kostanic beat qualifier Daniela Kix, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

In other matches, Melinda Czink beat Mariya Koryttseva, 6-2, 6-2; Alona Bondarenko easily beat Anastassia Rodionova, 6-2, 6-1; Vania King reached the quarterfinals by beating Nicole Pratt, 6-0, 6-1; and Alona Bondarenko topped Anastassia Rodionova, 6-2, 6-1.

The competitors are playing for a first prize of $28,000.
