UNIONDALE, N.Y., Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Miroslav Satan was the only player to score in the shoot-out Thursday night as the New York Islanders beat the Pittsburgh Penguins, 4-3.
Alexei Yashin had a goal and an assist; Oleg Kvasha scored once; and goalie Wade Dubielewicz made 13 saves and stopped three shots in the shoot-out for the Islanders (21-25-3), who broke a three-game slide.
Mark Recchi had a goal and an assist; John LeClair and Eric Cairns both scored once; and Sebastien Caron made 28 saves for the Penguins (12-29-10), who came crashing down to earth after an 8-1 rout of Washington on Wednesday night.
Pittsburgh has lost 11 of its last 12 games.
The Islanders out-shot the Penguins, 33-19. On the power play, Pittsburgh was 0-for-3 while New York went 2-for-6.
