NHL: New Jersey 3, N.Y. Islanders 2 (SO)

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Patrik Elias and Zach Parise both scored in a shootout Saturday as the New Jersey Devils posted a 3-2 victory over the New York Islanders.

Elias and Sergei Brylin also scored in regulation to help the Devils win their ninth consecutive game. Martin Brodeur made 37 saves for the winners.

The Devils' current winning stretch is their longest since a franchise record-tying 13-game run from Feb. 26-March 23, 2001.

Miroslav Satan and Mark Parrish both scored for the Islanders, who have lost six of their last eight games and 11 of their last 14. Rick DiPietro stopped 35 of 37 shots.
