NFL: Denver 28, Buffalo 17

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y., Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Jake Plummer threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns and Denver clinched a playoff berth with a 28-17 win over Buffalo Saturday night.

Plummer completed 20 of 37 passes for the Broncos (11-3), who dominated the hapless Bills in the second half en route to their sixth win in seven games.

Mike Anderson rushed for 97 yards and a pair of scores, while Rod Smith made 11 catches for 137 yards and a touchdown to help Denver assure itself of a spot in the postseason for the third consecutive year.

The Broncos can capture the AFC West if San Diego loses to Indianapolis on Sunday.

Kelly Holcomb, subbing for the injured J.P. Losman, threw for 202 yards and a touchdown on 22-of-35 passing for Buffalo (4-10), which was dealt its sixth straight loss.
