NHL: Colorado 6, Vancouver 2

DENVER, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Joe Sakic recorded a pair of goals and Colorado scored four times in the first period to roll over the visiting Vancouver Canucks, 6-2, Sunday night.

Alex Tanguay finished with three assists, while Milan Hejduk scored once and helped out another in the win. David Aebischer preserved Colorado's big early lead with 38 saves, including 17 in the first period.

Brendan Morrison and Bryan Allen each scored for the Canucks, who have dropped two in a row after three straight wins. Markus Naslund assisted on both goals. Vancouver goaltender Alexander Auld finished with 30 saves in defeat.

The teams will meet again Wednesday in Vancouver.
