NHL: Pittsburgh 3, Montreal 2 (SO)

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Sidney Crosby scored the lone shootout goal Thursday night as Pittsburgh beat the Montreal Canadiens, 3-2.

Mario Lemieux scored once, Ziggy Palffy had two assists and goaltender Jocelyn Thibault made 30 saves for the Penguins (5-6-5), who have won two of their last three games.

Craig Rivet and Chris Higgins scored goals and goalie Jose Theodore rang up 21 saves for the Canadiens (12-3-2), who had a five-game winning streak broken.

It was Montreal's first-ever shootout.

Montreal out-shot Pittsburgh, 35-26. The Penguins went 1-for-3 on the power play, while the Canadiens were 1-for-8.
