FOXBORO, Mass., Oct. 29 (UPI) -- The New England Patriots activated linebacker Tedy Bruschi Saturday from the physically unable to perform list.

He will be available to play Sunday against Buffalo.

The Patriots had to activate the nine-year veteran prior to 4:00 p.m. EDT Saturday if they wanted him to play this week.

Bruschi, 32, returned to practice last Wednesday after he was given full medical clearance -- following his recovery from the stroke he suffered on Feb. 16. He underwent heart surgery and has seen a number of doctors to gather information for a possible comeback.

He said after practice earlier this week that he felt no pain or discomfort and hopes to start this Sunday night.

Coach Bill Belichick said Bruschi was behind his teammates in the rotation because he has not played this year -- and it is more likely he will see action on early downs and on the punt team.
