Davenport in final at Zurich

ZURICH, Switzerland, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Lindsay Davenport and Patty Schnyder were semifinal winners Saturday at the $1.3 million Zurich Open.

Davenport was an easy 6-0, 6-4, winner over Anastasia Myskina, while Schnyder was a 6-2, 6-1, victor over Ana Ivanovic.

In Sunday's final, Davenport -- who has won her last 11 matches -- will try for her third consecutive title. She won at Bali and Filderstadt in her most recent appearances.

By advancing to the semifinals, Davenport is assured of the No. 1 spot when the latest world rankings are released on Monday, supplanting Maria Sharapova. It will be her ninth appearance at No. 1.

Schnyder won this event over Davenport in 2002.

Sunday's winner will claim a first-prize check of $189,000.
