LAS VEGAS, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Wes Short Jr. parred the second playoff hole Sunday to beat Jim Furyk and win the Michelin Championship at Las Vegas.
It was Short's first career victory on the PGA Tour.
In the final round, Short -- who earned $720,000 -- shot a 6-under-par 66, while Furyk carded a 7-under 65. The two ended at 21-under 266.
Third-round leader Ted Purdy shot 1-under 71 and tied for third place with Harrison Frazar (69) at 19-under-par 268.
Charles Howell III, who birdied the last hole, took fifth place at 18-under 269. Nick Watney (66) and Shigeki Maruyama (68) tied for sixth place at 17-under 270.
First- and second-round leader Briny Baird rebounded from a third-round 78 with a 65 on Sunday and shared eighth with Will MacKenzie (67), Hidemichi Tanaka (69) and Steve Lowery (72) at 16-under 271.
