NHL: Nashville 3, Anaheim 2 (OT)

NASHVILLE, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Paul Kariya scored the lone shootout goal Saturday night as Nashville beat the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, 3-2.

Kariya beat Mighty Ducks goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere on the game-winner and Nashville goalie Tomas Vokoun made 33 saves as the Predators improved to 2-0. It was their first-ever 2-0 start.

Petr Sykora and Samuel Pahlsson scored goals for Anaheim and Giguere had 33 saves.

The Mighty Ducks were 0-for-5 on the power play while Nashville was 1-of-4.
