Gilder leads from first, wins in Maryland

HUNT VALLEY, Md., Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Bob Gilder completed a wire-to-wire victory at the seniors Constellation Energy Classic Sunday for his first Champions Tour title in two years.

Gilder, 54, earned his eighth title on the senior circuit and first since the 2003 Emerald Classic nearly 29 months ago.

Gilder shot a 5-under 67 in his final round to finish at 18-under 198. He began the day with a two-stroke lead and ended with a four-shot edge over Morris Hatalsky (69), one of nine players within five strokes of Gilder after two rounds.

Curtis Strange finished alone in third place at 203 after a final-round 69. D.A. Weibring (71) ended one shot further back in fourth. Tom Watson (71) and John Bland (68) shared fifth place at 11-under 205.
