MLB: Chi.White Sox 9, Detroit 1

CHICAGO, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Carl Everett and Juan Uribe each hit three-run homers Friday night as the Chicago White Sox blasted Detroit, 9-1.

Willie Harris added a solo homer for Chicago, which has won its last two. The White Sox, who lead the American League Central Division, now are 36-13.

Winning pitcher Freddy Garcia, who allowed only two hits and one run in seven innings, improved to 12-7. He walked one and struck out seven.

Chris Shelton scored the Tigers' lone run and had one of their three hits. Detroit has dropped seven of its last nine.

Loser Sean Douglas, who was pounded for eight runs and eight hits over just 3 2/3 innings, dropped to 5-3.
