MLB: Detroit 4, Oakland 1

DETROIT, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Carlos Pena had two home runs and four RBI Tuesday to power the Detroit Tigers to a 4-1 victory over the Oakland Athletics.

Nate Robertson (6-10) allowed just one run on a pair of hits, mixing in two walks with six strikeouts over eight innings to win for the first time since July 20.

Pena went 3-for-4 and Placido Polanco added two hits for the Tigers, who have won five straight and eight of nine.

Dan Haren (10-10) took the loss after giving up four runs and 10 hits in 7 1/3 innings. Haren didn't walk a batter and struck out six, but lost his third straight start.

Bobby Crosby doubled and scored the only run for the A's, who have lost three straight and eight of 10.
