MLB: Detroit 3, Toronto 2 (13 inn.)

DETROIT, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Magglio Ordonez doubled home the winning run in the bottom of the 13th inning Saturday night as Detroit topped the Toronto Blue Jays, 3-2.

Ordonez had two hits and Ivan Rodriguez and Craig Monroe each hit solo home runs as the Tigers registered their third straight win and sixth in seven games. Franklyn German (4-0) earned the win with 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief.

Russ Adams had two hits and Frank Catalanotto and Vernon Wells each had one RBI for Toronto, which lost for the fourth time in its last 11 games.

Loser Miguel Batista dropped to 5-4.

Detroit is now 8-2 in extra-inning games this season.

Placido Polanco, who scored the game-winning run, is 31-for-63 (.492) when leading off an inning since joining the Tigers from Philadelphia in June.
