Knee surgery for Duce Staley

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Running back Duce Staley of the Pittsburgh Steelers Monday underwent arthroscopic knee surgery and will be sidelined for the next four weeks.

"It was a lateral meniscus tear on his right knee," said Coach Bill Cowher. "The prognosis right now is a month. We're hopeful we will have him by the beginning of the season."

Staley, 30, missed some time last season because of a hamstring injury, but rushed for 830 yards on 192 carries in 10 regular-season games. In his first season with Pittsburgh, he also had one touchdown and 55 yards receiving on six pass receptions.

He signed with the Steelers last off-season after seven seasons with Philadelphia and has rushed for 5,637 yards and 23 touchdowns on 1,392 career attempts.
